New Online Course for Antitrust Compliance Training
Press Releases

Waltham, Mass.—September 07, 2000—Integrity Interactive Corp., the emerging leader in enterprise compliance-training solutions, today announced the availability of "Antitrust—Contact With Competitors," the first in its new series of self-paced, web-based compliance training courses.

"Antitrust—Contact With Competitors" deals with the tricky situations that can arise through communication—both formal and informal—with competitors. Through an engaging, interactive jargon-free 35-minute class, students can master the antitrust compliance issues associated with competitor contact. Integrity Interactive then documents their successful completion of the course, helping companies document and certify their compliance programs.

The course is targeted at all employees who have any contact with competitors—thereby raising the risk of price fixing, market and customer allocation, and similar anti-competitive conduct. Employees who will benefit from the antitrust course include all who attend trade association meetings, trade shows, or industry conferences, and employees who set prices, prepare bids or proposals, are involved in joint ventures, or otherwise have any contact with competitors in their industry.

Reducing Compliance Risk

"When it comes to antitrust issues, the stakes have never been higher ," said Joseph Murphy, Managing Director of Integrity Interactive . "Enforcement activity is at an all-time high and fines and penalties are climbing. "Many employees don't understand that antitrust violations are felonies with serious criminal sanctions—including prison terms. Price-fixing is one of the few felonies you can commit over a coffee and a bagel.

"In the Internet age, a lecture on the Sherman Antitrust Act isn't going to truly reach salespeople. Our solution is a very cost-effective, comprehensive—and interesting—solution for companies who need to educate their employees and take aggressive but feasible steps to reduce their risk exposure."

Integrity Interactive's training solutions are the first feasible way to bring high-quality legal-compliance training to the masses of employees who need expert information delivered in an efficient and understandable format. The "Antitrust—Contact With Competitors" course features:
  • Multimedia Story-Based Design—Integrity Interactive uses rich graphics and audio to create an entertaining, interactive story—not pages of text—that provides students with a context for lessons. The course also includes real-life examples selected by Integrity Interactive experts to emphasize "this stuff really happens." Experts agree this approach is a critical component for comprehension and retention.
  • Checkpoint Questions and Final Test—The course includes questions that test for comprehension and ensure the student can apply the lessons in a new situation. At the end, the student must complete a multiple-choice test with a built-in review for missed questions. Employees continue with the test until they "test to 100%."
  • "Right Way" Scenarios—The course uses scenarios to demonstrate the "Right Way" to handle different situations.
  • Simple Web Access—Integrity Interactive courses are available from our secure, hosted Web site—24x7—to any employee using a standard Web browser with the free Macromedia Flash plug-in. There's no software or CD-ROMs for companies to install, distribute, track, or maintain.
In addition to the Web course itself, Integrity Interactive surrounds its solution with comprehensive training administration and management services, including assessment, registration, tracking, reporting, certification, and more. As a result, the administrative burden on corporate counsel or internal training departments is negligible while employees receive top-notch, up-to-date course content authored and delivered by experts.

A Case-Study Approach to Anitrust Learning

"Antitrust—Contact With Competitors" presents Ryan Wilson, a salesman who loses his job and his future because of some critical mistakes he makes at a trade association meeting. The course features several lessons, including:
  • Price Discussions—Ryan talks with a competitor about prices and discounts.
  • Trade Association Dangers—Ryan has an "off-the-record" discussion with a competitor at an association meeting.
  • Bid Rigging and Allocation—Ryan agrees with a competitor on a plan to allocate bids.
  • Suppliers and Joint Venture Partners—Ryan's discussion with a supplier includes competitive information.
  • E-mail is Forever—Ryan's associate receives an e-mail from him, but fails to stop his illegal plan.
