Leading Developer of Silicon Products Reaches 7,500 Employees Woldwide
Press Releases
Dedham, MassDecember 18, 2002Dow Corning, a $2.4 billion producer of silicon-based sealants and industrial products, chose Integrity Interactive's Web-based courses as the foundation of an ethics and compliance training program for 7,500 employees all over the world, Integrity Interactive announced today.
Midland, Mich.based Dow Corning started its Integrity Interactive deployment Nov. 2001. The company recently expanded to its current complement of seven Integrity Interactive online ethics and compliance courses. Dow Corning employees access the courses, which cover subjects such as mutual respect and antitrust regulations, from the company's Dow Corning University Web site. Managers and front-line employees click on an icon to view the Integrity tutorials, which consist of text, audio and video clips, then take online tests to confirm they have completed the course and understand the material.
Dow Corning chose Integrity Interactive from a field of several companies. "Our team felt that the content and the form of the Integrity courses was superior to the other firms we considered," said Alan Greenwood, Dow Corning's assistant general counsel and corporate compliance officer. "Other firms broke a subject like antitrust compliance into six or seven sub-topics. Integrity Interactive had one course that covered the whole subject that we felt was at the right level to sensitize our managers to the issue. Many of our managers commented positively on the courses as being instructive and entertaining."
Dow Corning requires employees in customer-facing functions such as procurement and sales to take Integrity compliance training courses. The Integrity system sends notification and reminder e-mails to employees required to take courses. The company launched its online compliance training program with a group of 1,080 senior managers, and plans to extend training to all of its employees over the next few years with the goal of developing a lifelong learning program that incorporates regular compliance training, Greenwood said.
Dow Corning is jointly owned by Dow Chemical Company and Corning Inc. It is one of the world's largest manufacturers of silicon-based products such as sealants, gaskets, insulators and connectors found in industrial and consumer products. It sells its 7,000 products and services to more than 25,000 customers around the world through more than 40 international sites.
"Dow Corning is a great opportunity for us to show how well our products perform in a large company with operations all over the world," said Carl Nelson, president of Integrity Interactive. "Big companies need to reach all of their employees with compliance training in a relatively short amount of time, and Dow Corning shows how they can do that with Web-based courses."
